Heroes & Villains 2005
key industry event aimed at UK and international run-off and active insurance and reinsurance companies, accountants, lawyers, actuaries, investors, brokers and service providers
1st January 2005
…WORLD’S LARGEST RUN-OFF INSURANCE EVENT…

ARC, the UK run-off industry’s representative body, announces the sixth annual international ARC Congress 2005, the world’s largest run-off and commutation event, from 8th – 9th March at Merchant Taylors’ Hall, Threadneedle Street in the City of London.
ARC is expecting record numbers of attendees at the 2005 Congress. The organisers predict that there will be more delegates at the 2005 event than attended in 2004 – already a record year. There has already been a strong showing in terms of sponsors signing up early. And for the first time, the 2005 Congress moves from mid to early March to accommodate the wishes of delegates and sponsors.
ARC has a special Congress website designed to keep delegates, sponsors and VIP speakers up to date on developments throughout the year. The website address is www.arccongress.com
The Congress is organised for UK and international professionals and businesses interested in discontinued business, including the active side of the (re)insurance industry, accountants, lawyers, actuaries, investors and brokers - as well as outsource providers. Run-off is a rapidly growing part of the insurance market place with an estimated international value of around £200 billion predicted to grow to £330 billion by 2005. Over twenty five per cent of the total UK non-life insurance market is in run-off and is handled through London. Recent independent research commissioned by ARC shows that there is in excess of £40 billion total liabilities in this market.
Leslie-Ann Giovnilli of ARC comments: “ARC has done extraordinarily well in providing a forum for debate, professional development and good business. It has gone from strength to strength in the few years of its existence and if there’s one event in the market place known as the place to learn and do business, the ARC Congress 2005 is the place!"
ARC Congress 2005 boasts two full days. The first day, 8th March, 2005, is the ARC Congress Discontinued Business Seminar, dedicated to debating hot industry topics – such as life run-off and European asbestos. The following day, 9th March, is the Commutations Networking Day, set aside for commutation negotiations.
Bookings can be made through Leslie-Ann Giovnilli at ARC who can also supply further information on group discounts or sponsorship. Telephone +44 (0)7776 302462, email events@arccongress.com or visit the website: www.arccongress.com
Philip Grant ARC Treasurer and Seminar Chairman says: “The 2005 Congress is on target to be the largest ever. Each year the event has grown and grown. This is indicative of the respect for ARC in the market place and the fact that ARC listens so carefully to what its members want. The event is carefully planned, bearing in mind the precise requirements of delegates and sponsors.”
“The first day Seminar will be particularly useful to delegates because of the knowledge of the speakers and the world wide range of the topics. On the second day, members and non-members will have the opportunity to meet, one to one, to discuss commutation and debt recovery deals as well as launching new initiatives. Each day ends with a cocktail party to which all delegates are invited – these are excellent networking opportunities and should not be missed,” he concludes.
